Delhi Dehradun Expressway is set to open in the last week of March or beginning of April. 95% of the work has been completed and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to conduct load testing from the first week of March and trial runs from the second week. The plan is to open the third phase of the expressway for traffic by May.
With the opening of these two phases, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Kheda, Baghpat will directly connect to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. This will provide connectivity from Eastern Delhi to Sonipat in Haryana via Baghpat, Shamli, and the eastern border. The second phase involves the construction of a 16.60 km long expressway from Loni Border in Delhi to Kheda in Baghpat. The work of placing pillars and guardrails for the 12 km long elevated corridor has already been completed.
The road construction work is also almost complete. Some sections are still pending, which will be finished in the next 20 days. The construction of the service road has also been done along with the elevated corridor. The goal is to complete the work on approximately 2.5 km of drainage by February.
The first phase, which is approximately 15.50 km long, starts from Akshardham and goes up to the UP border, passing through Shastri Park and Gandhi Nagar. Approximately 95% of this section consists of an elevated road. 85% of the elevated corridor section has been completed, and the remaining work will be finished by the end of March.
The completion of the 210 km long expressway is estimated to take until November. The journey from Ganeshpur to Dehradun will become easier. Regular reviews of the expressway construction are underway. Three packages between Ganeshpur and Dehradun in Saharanpur will also be completed by March, and they will be opened for traffic in April. However, the progress of work between the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Ganeshpur is slow. Consequently, the entire expressway will have to wait until November to be ready.
