Delhi-Katra Expressway Latest News
Work on the Delhi-Katra Expressway is progressing at a rapid pace. The Central Government has now approved the integration of the expressway with the Bahadurgarh Bypass in Haryana. The Greenfield Expressway will also be connected to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway. Haryana government had proposed connecting the Delhi-Katra Expressway to the Bahadurgarh Bypass, which has now been approved by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Connectivity and Routes
The Delhi-Katra Expressway starts from the Jhajjar district in Haryana at Jasaur Khedi village. It will be connected to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway near Jasaur Khedi. The existing road from Jasaur Khedi village to New Delhi will be utilized for connectivity with the expressway.
Reduced Travel Time
Once completed, the Delhi-Katra Expressway will reduce the distance between Delhi and Katra by 57 km, making it 670 km. Travel time from New Delhi to Amritsar will be reduced to four hours, and to Katra will be six hours. Currently, it takes about 11 hours to reach Katra from Delhi. The expressway will pass through Haryana (137 km), Punjab (399 km), and Jammu and Kashmir (135 km), connecting various districts along the way.
Phases of Construction
The first phase of the Delhi-Katra Expressway is expected to be completed this year. The construction of the expressway from New Delhi to Jalandhar is underway in the first phase. The 408 km long expressway construction began in October 2022. The second phase will involve the construction of the expressway from Jalandhar to Katra, with integration with the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway.
दिल्ली-कटरा एक्सप्रेसवे के काम में तेजी आ रही है। केंद्र सरकार ने हरियाणा के बहादुरगढ़ बाईपास से जुड़ने की मंजूरी दे दी है और इसे कुंडली-मानेसर-पलवल एक्सप्रेसवे से भी जोड़ा जाएगा। यह एक्सप्रेसवे दिल्ली से कटरा की दूरी को कम करेगा और यात्रा में समय बचाएगा। इसी साल पहला चरण पूरा होने की उम्मीद है और यह 408 किमी लंबा होगा। एक्सप्रेसवे का निर्माण अक्टूबर, 2022 में शुरू हुआ था।
