Big news for those celebrating the New Year by traveling on the Delhi Metro. Passengers traveling on the Delhi Metro on the eve of New Year will need to stay updated with the latest notices from DMRC. Today, passengers will not be allowed to exit the Rajiv Chowk metro station after 9 pm in order to avoid overcrowding. However, DMRC clarified that entry will still be allowed at the Rajiv Chowk metro station after 9 pm, meaning that passengers will not be able to exit but can still enter the station normally.

DMRC’s Executive Director, Anuj Dayal, stated that passengers will be allowed entry at the stations until the last train departs in December. He urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly. Services at other metro stations will continue as per the regular schedule. Meanwhile, Delhi Police announced that traffic towards Connaught Place will be regulated after 8 pm on Sunday.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, approximately 2,500 traffic police personnel will be deployed, along with 250 teams to check for drunk driving. Officials stated that extra surveillance will be conducted at Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khas, South Extension, and other crowded areas. The police also mentioned specific locations such as M.S. Block, Crown Plaza Hotel Nehru Place, Defence Colony Club, INA Market, South Extension Market, Hauz Khas Village, Qutub Minar, Vegas Mall in Dwarka, Rajouri Garden, Netaji Subhash Place, and Hudson Lane.

In summary, passengers traveling on the Delhi Metro on New Year’s Eve will not be allowed to exit Rajiv Chowk metro station after 9 pm, but entry will still be permitted. DMRC urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly. Delhi Police will regulate traffic in Connaught Place and deploy additional personnel and teams to ensure smooth traffic flow and monitor crowded areas.
