Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Link Road in Faridabad is set to be completed in three months, with the Delhi portion expected to be finished in the next six months. This claim was made by Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, during his visit to the project on Wednesday. He also mentioned that the project has set a world record, as the expressway has crossed over metro lines at four different locations. Various officials, including Minister Krishna Pal Gurjar and opposition leader Ramvir Vidhuri, accompanied Gadkari on the tour.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project has seen a total investment of INR 60,000 crores, with INR 5,000 crores worth of work already approved and INR 30,000 crores worth of work completed. The remaining work is expected to be finished by next year. The inauguration of the Dwarka Expressway is also planned, with the Prime Minister being invited to attend. The link road from DND to Faridabad on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has incurred a cost of INR 7,000 crores.

The six-lane project, spanning approximately 60 kilometers, is expected to be completed by December, with the 9-kilometer section from DND to Jaitpur being finished by that time. This section starts at DND Maharanibagh and passes through Delhi, including locations like Khizrabad, Batla House, Okhla Vihar, and Jasola Vihar, before reaching the Gurgaon Canal and the Faridabad region. Around 73% of the work in this section has been completed, and it is referred to as Package-1.

Under Package-2, work has already been completed in 83% of the section from Jaitpur Pushtha Road in Faridabad to the junction of Sector 62-65 Dividing Road. The remaining work in this section is expected to be finished by May. Additionally, work under Package-3, which includes the section from Sector 62-65 Dividing Road to KMP Expressway Chowk, was completed in May. The Greenfield Expressway, which connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Link Road, will also be integrated. Construction for the Greenfield Expressway is already underway and is expected to be completed by June at a cost of INR 1,660 crores.

During the visit, Gadkari was informed by Krishna Pal Gurjar that farmers are protesting for the construction of a cut on the Greenfield Expressway. Officials have been instructed to come up with a solution to address this issue. In response to Ramvir Vidhuri’s demand, Gadkari also announced the construction of a modern foot overbridge near the Delhi-Faridabad border, close to Moldband, which will include a lift for the elderly. This will provide pedestrians, as well as bikers and scooter riders, with a safer crossing option, as many people currently have to cross the road on foot.
