Delhi residents have good news as the construction of the Delhi Third Ring Road, also known as the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), is almost complete. This 75-kilometer long road will connect Alipur in North Delhi to Mahipalpur and is expected to begin operation soon. The Indian National Highways Authority (NHAI) has confirmed that the UER-II is a 6-lane controlled-access highway, which will provide connectivity to North/North-West/West/South-West Delhi with Gurugram and NH-44. It will also connect Sonipat and Bahadurgarh Bypass.

This new road will make travel between Gurugram and IGI Airport much easier. It will help reduce traffic on the Inner/Outer Ring Road, Dwarka, Rohatak Road, and NH-4. The road will provide convenient travel between Gurugram and the airport, significantly reducing travel time. People coming from Punjab and Haryana to the airport currently spend up to 2 hours, but with the completion of this ring road, the journey will be completed in just 20-30 minutes.

The construction of this ring road is part of Delhi’s Master Plan. The 6-lane road project was proposed in Delhi’s Master Plan 2021 and is being recognized as the Third Ring Road to help alleviate congestion on the current ring road and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. In the construction of the UER-II, millions of metric tons of inert waste material have been utilized.

In summary, the completion of the Delhi Third Ring Road, also known as the Urban Extension Road-II, will bring relief to Delhi residents by providing better connectivity between North/North-West/West/South-West Delhi and Gurugram. The road will also make travel between Gurugram and IGI Airport easier and significantly reduce travel time. This project is part of Delhi’s Master Plan and has utilized large amounts of inert waste material in its construction.
