Fastag Fraud Trick: Truck drivers are resorting to using fast-tag vehicles to avoid paying extra toll taxes at the Badarpur toll plaza on the Delhi-Faridabad border. During the investigation by the toll company, more than 22 cases of such fraud have been uncovered in the past six months. Truck drivers were able to commit this fraud due to the lack of Know Your Customer (KYC) for fast tags.
NHAI has tightened the KYC for fast tags to curb this kind of fraud. From 11 pm onwards, a queue of trucks starts forming at the Badarpur flyover. There are usually more trucks than cars during the night. Due to the higher number of trucks, toll booth employees focus on quickly allowing trucks to pass through the toll plaza.
Within the past six months, toll employees have identified more than 22 trucks with different registration numbers and chassis numbers for their fast tags. Without KYC, truck drivers easily carried out this fraud. Additionally, some vehicle drivers avoid attaching their fast tags to their windshields. They take the fast tag in their hands and attach it to the windshield upon reaching the toll plaza. Toll officials have questioned several vehicle drivers about this. Motorists have explained to toll employees that they have multiple vehicles, but only use one fast tag. However, there are also some vehicle drivers who have four to five fast tags, but now only one will be considered valid.
The most modern fast tag will be operational. Vehicles with four to five fast tags will now only have their latest fast tag considered valid. All previously issued fast tags will be discontinued. Approximately 80,000 vehicles pass through the Badarpur toll plaza within 24 hours.

Even travelers on the expressway have to lighten their pockets. However, the state government has already announced the elimination of toll taxes on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.

There have been several cases in the past six months. Complaints against such drivers have been filed with the police,” he said.
