Kiratpur-Manali National Highway gets approval for construction of the first tunnel: The central government has approved the construction of a tunnel on the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway in Himachal Pradesh. The tunnel will be built in Mandi, around six to seven miles away, and will be approximately two kilometers long. Once the tunnel is constructed, it will not be affected by natural disasters, allowing vehicles to travel continuously. This decision was made after the national highway suffered heavy damage during a calamity, prompting IT experts to recommend the construction of a tunnel. The NHAI conducted a second survey based on the report by the IT experts before deciding to build the tunnel.

Proposal sent to the central government for construction from Padhar to Bijnor in the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway: The NHAI has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to convert the double-lane road from Padhar to Bijnor in the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway into a four-lane road. Currently, this section is the only part of the national highway that is not four lanes wide, while all other sections are already four lanes. The section from Padhar to Bijnor has already been prepared in double lanes, and land acquisition has been completed accordingly. However, the NHAI is now preparing to convert this section into a four-lane road and seeking permission from the central government.
