The Haryana government has approved the formation of the Hisar Metropolitan Authority for the development of the city. This move aims to facilitate the steady and balanced growth of Hisar. The authority will work on the lines of the existing four authorities in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panchkula.

The state government has designated Hisar as the fifth city among the 22 districts in Haryana to have a metropolitan development authority.

Kamal Gupta, a spokesperson, stated that the authority will have a senior IAS officer as its chairman and a chief executive officer as its executive officer. The city’s image will change with the attainment of metropolitan status, and the development of the city will gain momentum with the implementation of major projects.
