Head of PMPML: Nearly 90% of the buses operated by Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation Limited (PMPML) are using clean fuel. Out of these, 67% run on compressed natural gas (CNG), while 23% are electric vehicles (EVs). The announcement was made by the newly appointed CMD of PMPML, Sanjay Kolte, during the inauguration ceremony of the Nexgen Mobility Show 2023 at the Deccan College Ground in Pune on Friday. He said, “Since the beginning of the transportation service, we have made efforts to make public transport more sustainable. Currently, only 10% of the fleet runs on diesel, and this will be gradually phased out in the coming years.”
During an interview with Indian Express, the CMD mentioned that PMPML’s commitment to stability and urban mobility solutions began in 2009. Currently, there are a total of 2,119 buses, out of which 1,431 run on CNG and 473 are electric vehicles.

पुणे मेट्रोपॉलिटन ट्रांसपोर्ट कॉरपोरेशन लिमिटेड (पीएमपीएमएल) के तहत चलने वाली बसों का लगभग 90 प्रतिशत स्वच्छ ईंधन का उपयोग कर रही है। इनमें से 67 प्रतिशत बसें सीएनजी पर चलती हैं, जबकि 23 प्रतिशत बसें इलेक्ट्रिक हैं। पीएमपीएमएल के नवनियुक्त सीएमडी संजय कोलटे ने बताया कि सार्वजनिक परिवहन को अधिक टिकाऊ बनाने की कोशिश की जा रही है। वर्तमान में केवल 10 प्रतिशत बसें डीजल पर चलती हैं और इसे धीरे-धीरे समाप्त किया जाएगा। कुल 2119 बसों में से 1431 सीएनजी और 473 इलेक्ट्रिक पर चल रही हैं।
