High-speed train projects have been initiated in New Delhi, not only benefiting Sonipat but also the development of Panipat, Karnal, and Ambala districts. Environmental management plans will be ensured in construction contracts, and trees will be removed in accordance with forest policies. The government has emphasized the importance of completing land acquisition work on time by coordinating with farmers.

The proposed high-speed rail project between Delhi and Amritsar, also known as the bullet train, has been halted in Sonipat. After the feasibility report, studies on traffic, social impact, and environmental impact have now begun. A detailed project report will be prepared and sent to the central government.

The Haryana government has instructed officials to give all necessary approvals based on the priority of work for rapid rail, orbital rail corridors, Maruti Industries, and Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority. The government has also emphasized the need to complete land acquisition work on time by coordinating with farmers.

The high-speed train project will not only benefit Sonipat but also the development of Panipat, Karnal, and Ambala districts. Environmental management plans will be ensured in construction contracts, and trees will be removed in accordance with forest policies. A proposed railway station is planned near the village of Harsana Kalan in Sonipat.

Stations are proposed in Delhi, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Beas, and Amritsar. There will be no entry on the entire elevated track. This railway track will also be far away from the reach of animals.

According to officials of the NHRSCL, a active suspension system will be installed in the coaches to reduce the impact caused by coach movement. Traditional suspension systems use springs and dampers, whereas active suspension systems have controllers that regulate the vehicle’s motion.

These facilities will enhance passenger convenience during high-speed train travel. There will be a set of cameras both in front and behind the passenger cabin, recording any suspicious activities on the train. All seats in these trains will rotate in the direction of the train’s motion.

Work is underway to develop Sonipat similar to Faridabad and Noida. The railway coach factory, Maruti, rapid and orbital rail corridors, and now the bullet train will contribute to the rapid development of Sonipat district. The state government has already prepared a roadmap for the district’s development by establishing the Metropolitan Development Authority.

This is a significant project for Haryana. The first phase of the high-speed train will start in Sonipat after departing from Delhi, benefiting the district. Undoubtedly, Sonipat’s development will receive a boost. The 43-kilometer long elevated railway track will pass through 34 villages, hence reducing the need for extensive land acquisition. ★Dr. Manoj Kumar, DC.
