Increase in cold and pollution levels are being observed in Delhi. Considering the rising levels of pollution, it seems that the Delhi government may soon announce winter vacations in schools. If this happens, it will be the second time that the state government declares vacations for educational institutions. In November, schools in Delhi-NCR were closed for 10 days due to the increasing AQI levels.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced winter vacations in all government, government-aided, and non-governmental schools. Due to this vacation, officials had decided to reduce the Delhi winter vacations from 15 days to 6 days in 2023.

This year, the Directorate of Education has announced winter vacations in Delhi schools from January 1st to 6th. However, if Delhi’s AQI starts to fall again and the temperature drops, the administration may announce vacations, keeping the health of children in mind in schools/colleges. Usually, every year the Delhi government has to extend winter vacations due to the cold weather.
