Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation has started operating the metro train from Mansarovar to Chandpole, covering a distance of 9.63 km on June 3, 2015. The operation of the metro was further expanded to Parikote on September 23, 2020, with a route length of 2.4 km. The construction work is expected to be completed by April 2027, with the route extending from Shyam Nagar to Ramganj Chopad. However, the route from Mansarovar to 200 feet Bypass has not been finalized yet.
The ongoing metro projects in Jaipur, such as Phase 1C from Badi Chaupar to Vishchal Nagar and Phase 1D from Badi Chaupar to Udgam Nagar, are expected to benefit the population living along the Delhi-Agra to Ajmer highway. Once both phases are completed, the metro is estimated to cater to a passenger load exceeding one lakh. This development is projected to bring significant advantages to areas like Prithviraj Nagar and Electronic Nagar along the Ajmer Road.
In Phase 2 of the metro project, the route will be extended up to Vidhyadhar Nagar, replacing the current Amba Baba route. The elevated construction of the metro line up to Vidhyadhar Nagar is estimated to cost around 5800 crores. The 30 km long route will be built on the concept of a light metro. The proposed metro route will connect various important locations such as Haldighati Gate, Durgapura, Mahavir Nagar, and Sawai Mansingh Hospital, among others.
The upcoming expansion of the metro line is also expected to connect Seekar Road to Amba Baba Ashram. The project aims to provide metro rail connectivity to areas like Nagaland, Chandpole, Zakia, and Panipech, passing through important landmarks such as the Ram Bagh Circle and Sawai Mansingh Hospital. The proposal to extend the metro line up to Amba Baba Ashram is believed to leverage the expertise of the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation in providing efficient and convenient transportation options to the residents of Jaipur.
