Vande Bharat Express, the first sleeper train in Madhya Pradesh, may start operating from Gwalior in the last week of March. The decision to run the sleeper version of Vande Bharat on the Delhi-Kolkata and Delhi-Mumbai routes has been taken by the Ministry of Railways in the first phase. Gwalior station is an important station on the Delhi-Mumbai railway line, which makes it possible for Vande Bharat sleeper to have a stoppage in Gwalior.
Currently, chair car versions of Vande Bharat trains are running in the state. The chair car version of Vande Bharat Express is currently being operated from Bhopal to Hazrat Nizamuddin, Bhopal to Indore, Bhopal to Jabalpur via Rewa, and Bhopal to Indore-Ujjain via Nagpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate the sleeper version of Vande Bharat Express on March 31. The train will be equipped with all modern amenities. It has been manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited in Bangalore and is currently undergoing testing. The 16-coach train will have 10 coaches of AC-3, four coaches of AC-2, and one coach of AC-1. In addition, two coaches will be specially designed for differently-abled passengers. The train doors will automatically open and close as soon as it arrives at the platform. The interior of the train will also be improved.
Parcel bookings on trains from Gwalior to Delhi and nearby stations will be banned from January 23 to January 26 due to security reasons on the occasion of Republic Day. The railways have issued orders to ensure security in Delhi in January. According to the orders, parcel bookings will not be allowed on trains going to Anand Vihar Terminal, New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Sarai Rohilla, and Adarsh Nagar stations. In addition, parcels booked before January 23 will not be loaded on trains during this period. On Republic Day, many trains open or divert from stations other than Delhi. The RPF has also started taking action from January to ensure that there is no security lapse in the city.
