Delhi-Meerut Expressway Project Update
Officials from the NHAI have stated that work on the expressway had come to a halt in April last year, affecting the progress of the nine-month project. Therefore, an additional 10 months have been allocated to complete the construction.
Completion Timeline
After a long delay, all obstacles related to the fifth phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway project have been cleared. The NHAI has approved the construction of a ramp to connect the Mohiuddinpur to Kharkhauda road to the expressway, with the aim of completing road construction by December this year and having the expressway ready by February next year.
Project Status
The NHAI officials have indicated that work on the expressway is progressing, with 23% completion of the 14.60 km section. Monthly project reviews are being conducted, and site engineers have been instructed to monitor daily activities. If the work does not progress as planned, penalties will be imposed on the agency.
Connectivity Benefits
The fifth phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is considered crucial for connectivity. Once completed, it will connect Merut’s Hapur Road, leading to the Ring Road in Merut, which further connects to the national highway to Uttarakhand. This project will greatly benefit the people of Merut, allowing easier access to Delhi and Uttarakhand without entering the city.
