RRTS: Officials of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) have announced that the next 25-kilometer section of the RRTS corridor, from Duhai depot in Ghaziabad to Merath South, will be operationalized in the next two months. This segment of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is located between Duhai and Merath South stations and will be opened to the public after the completion of the initial phase. Last year, the first phase of the project was inaugurated. Punit Vats, the Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NCRTC, provided information about the progress of the project to the viewers.
Namo Bharat trains to begin operations: Vats stated, “The 17-kilometer long priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Merath RRTS corridor is currently operational. In the next two months, Namo Bharat trains will be started on this route. The team is working rapidly towards operating an additional 25 kilometers of the corridor, beyond Duhai to Merath South, in the coming months.”
Four stations in this section: Vats mentioned that there will be four stations in this section: Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar West, and Merath South. He added that with the commencement of this section, Namo Bharat trains will provide travelers with a safe, reliable, and high-speed journey from Sahibabad to Merath South (a stretch of 42 kilometers from the Delhi border to the Merath border).
Rapid progress: After the issuance of the INR 2,000 note, the RBI has now released the INR 100 note, which is in line with the government’s ambitious plan. Vats stated, “Considering the pace of work, it is likely that Delhi will also be included in this project by January next year.” The NCRTC team is enthusiastically working towards completing the 82-kilometer corridor before its scheduled deadline in June 2025.
An additional official mentioned that the platform at Anand Vihar station is underground. It was informed that the structural work is almost completed, and the track laying work is still ongoing.
