The highway is ready to be completed by next year. Before the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway becomes fully operational, another important link is being established through a new expressway between two major cities in India.

Year 2023 is coming to an end and the month of December is paving the way for several expectations for the upcoming year. In this article, we will discuss 5 new expressways that Indians can expect next year. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already listed the new expressways that will be completed by next year. Let’s find out more about them.

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the most anticipated expressway in India, connecting the national capital and the economic capital of the country. According to Nitin Gadkari, the expressway should be fully ready and operational by next year, preferably by February. Currently, the first section of the expressway between Sohna in Haryana and Dausa in Rajasthan, spanning approximately 209 kilometers, has been opened.

Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway: Before the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway becomes fully operational, another important link is being established through a new expressway between two major cities in India. As assured by Nitin Gadkari a few months ago, the 262-kilometer long Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway is expected to open at some point next year. The speed limit on the expressway for light vehicles will be 120 kilometers per hour.

Dwarka Expressway: Construction of the Dwarka Expressway has been halted due to increasing pollution. It is hoped that India’s first elevated urban highway will open before the start of next summer. The expressway is almost ready, with some improvements being made before its official inauguration. Approximately 19 kilometers of the expressway are in Haryana, while the remaining 10 kilometers are in Delhi.

Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway: With the commencement of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, travel time between Delhi and Amritsar via road will be reduced to just 4 hours. NHAI expects the 669-kilometer long expressway to be operational by the end of next year. It promises to reduce the distance between Delhi and Katra by approximately 58 kilometers, allowing travelers to reach Katra from Delhi in about six hours.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is in its final phase. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to open for traffic soon, reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to less than 3 hours.
