Mohammad Ishtiyaque Rahman from Ranchi has secured All India Rank 354 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. Currently working as an Immigration Officer at Hyderabad Airport, the 25-year-old achieved this milestone in his third attempt. Despite losing his father in 2021 and working a full-time job with the Intelligence Bureau, Ishtiyaque continued his preparation and made his family proud with this achievement.

Who is Mohammad Ishtiyaque Rahman?
Ishtiyaque belongs to Firdaus Nagar in Doranda, Ranchi. He is the youngest among eight siblings, having six sisters and two brothers. He completed his early education at Loyola Convent School and later graduated with a BBA degree from Marwari College in 2023. His father, Rafique Ansari, passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was a difficult time for the family. He drew inspiration from his younger sister, who is currently serving as a Probation Officer selected through the Bihar Public Service Commission.
Details of His UPSC Journey and Attempts
Success did not come immediately for Ishtiyaque. He had to balance his duties at the airport immigration department with rigorous studies. His journey includes:
- First Attempt (2023): Could not clear the Preliminary examination.
- Second Attempt (2024): Reached the Interview stage but did not make it to the final merit list.
- Third Attempt (2025): Successfully secured AIR 354.
The Union Public Service Commission declared the final results on March 6, 2026. A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment this year.
Homecoming and Celebrations in Ranchi
Celebrations have already begun at his residence in Ward 49, Doranda. Local councilor Jameela Khatoon and other community leaders visited his home to congratulate his mother, Rabya Khatun. Ishtiyaque is currently in Hyderabad and is scheduled to return to Ranchi on March 10, 2026. A grand welcome is being planned by the local residents and organizations to honor his dedication and success.
