Sweety, an inspiring woman entrepreneur from Vikramshila Colony in Bhagalpur, Bihar, has achieved remarkable success with her mustard oil business. In just three years, her venture has soared to an annual turnover of 20 lakh rupees, becoming a shining example of entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment in India.

Support from Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Scheme

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, when livelihood was at stake, Sweety chose not to give up. Instead, she leveraged the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Scheme, receiving a loan of 10 lakh rupees in 2022. This financial support enabled her to establish a mustard oil plant in Nathnagar, Bhagalpur. Her dedication and effective management led to her business achieving a 20 lakh rupees annual turnover in a short span of three years.

Expanding Reach: Mustard Oil Business Across India

Sweety diligently marketed her products door-to-door, building trust through quality. Today, her mustard oil is sold online in various Indian states including Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Haryana, and Assam. Additionally, her products are supplied to Khadi Malls in Patna and Muzaffarpur. Sweety also had the opportunity to showcase her products at events like World Food India, Khadi Mela, and other international fairs.

Meeting with Prime Minister Modi and National Recognition

On September 22, 2025, Sweety had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam as an entrepreneur from Bihar. She was invited by the Ministry of Food Processing. During their five-minute interaction, Sweety discussed her products and market challenges. She is the first woman entrepreneur from her district to receive the ‘Jai Gold’ certification, which stands as a testament to the quality of her products.

Empowering Local Communities and Employment

Sweety’s enterprise has not only made her self-reliant but has also provided employment to over 30 local men and women. Her plant produces approximately 900 liters of mustard oil per month. This initiative also encourages farmers to adopt modern mustard cultivation practices, helping them achieve economic self-reliance through crop procurement. Sweety’s story serves as an inspiration for many women who dream of overcoming difficult circumstances and achieving success.
