Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026-27 today. The government is focusing on expanding traditional medicine systems. Three new Ayurveda AIIMS will be established in different parts of India. The exact locations will be announced after consultation with state governments.
Five regional medical hubs will be created through Public-Private Partnerships. These centers will work as integrated healthcare complexes to attract patients from abroad.
The WHO Global Medical Centre located in Jamnagar will be upgraded. This move aims to develop it as a global center for traditional medicine. A new ‘NIMHANS 2.0’ is also proposed for North India to provide better mental health services.
