A serious road accident occurred on the Bettiah-Gorakhpur main road (NH-727) near Bagaha on Tuesday afternoon. Three youths were critically injured after two speeding motorcycles collided head-on near Bahuwarwa Kanta. The local police from Chautarwa station responded to the scene immediately and helped move the injured to the hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, doctors have referred all three victims to a higher medical center.
Details of the crash and victims
The accident took place under the jurisdiction of Chautarwa Police Station. One of the victims has been identified as Sajid Ansari, a 30-year-old man from Siswa Basantpur village. The identity of the two youths on the other motorcycle has not been released yet, but they also sustained heavy injuries. Police officials seized both damaged bikes from the spot and are currently investigating the matter.
Allegations of drunk driving and wrong side riding
According to statements given by the injured Sajid Ansari, the riders on the opposing bike were driving on the wrong side of the road. He also alleged that they were in an inebriated state at the time of the collision. Initially, the police took the victims to Patilar Hospital, then to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bagaha. After examination, Dr. Arun Kumar Yadav referred them to GMCH Bettiah for advanced treatment as their condition worsened.
