A nationwide strike or Bharat Bandh has been announced for February 12, 2026, impacting various sectors across the country. This 24-hour protest is organized by a joint platform of 10 central trade unions and farmers groups like the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. Nearly 30 crore workers are expected to join this strike to oppose government labor codes and privatization policies.
What Services Will Be Closed During the Strike?
Public sector banks are likely to see major disruptions in counter services like cash transactions and cheque clearances. Banks like SBI have already issued advisories about potential delays. State-run bus services and auto-rickshaws might not run in states with strong union presence like Kerala and West Bengal. Government offices could also see low attendance, and production in industrial sectors like steel and coal may slow down due to worker walkouts.
List of Services That Will Remain Open
Essential services including hospitals, pharmacies, and fire services will work normally without any break. Digital banking, ATMs, and online transactions will function as usual for all customers. Stock markets like BSE and NSE will also remain open. Flight operations are not stopped, but travelers are advised to reach airports early to avoid traffic issues on the roads.
