The Bihar government has announced a significant change regarding the processing of land-related applications on the Bihar Bhumi portal. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has decided to suspend the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) system until June 30, 2026. This extension follows a previous suspension that was set to end in March, and it aims to provide administrative flexibility in handling land disputes.
Priority for SC-ST land cases and public grievances
The main objective behind this decision is to expedite the disposal of priority cases that often get delayed in the standard queue. Under the new rules, officials will prioritize land matters related to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Additionally, complaints received through the Bhoomi Sudhar Jan Kalyan Samvad will be addressed on a priority basis. Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha mentioned that this step ensures a more responsive system for the common man who needs urgent justice in land disputes.
Technical updates and instructions to officials
Deputy Director Mona Jha and OSD Mani Bhushan Kishore have issued formal orders to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to make necessary technical changes to the portal software. These updates will allow the system to process specific applications out of the chronological order. All Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates, and Circle Officers have been instructed to follow these guidelines. The system will be reviewed again after June 30, 2026, to decide on the future of the FIFO mechanism.
