The Bihar government has officially opened a new Other Backward Class (OBC) Girls Residential Plus Two School in Adfa village of Dumraon, Buxar district. Minister Rama Nishad inaugurated the facility which is built to accommodate 520 female students. This initiative is part of the government strategy to establish such schools in every district to support the education of backward class daughters. The school provides free education, housing, and food to girls from class 6 to 12.

What facilities and education will students receive

The residential school offers a safe and secure environment for girls to focus on their studies. Students from class 6 to 12 can avail of quality education without any tuition fees. Along with textbooks and regular classes, the government provides free lodging and meals within the campus. Some of these residential schools are expected to introduce modern technology subjects like artificial intelligence and robotics in the future. This step aims to reduce the financial burden on families while making girls self-reliant.

Application process and eligibility criteria

Families belonging to the backward class can apply for admission through the official portal bcebconline.bihar.gov.in. The main eligibility requirement is that the annual income of the parents or guardians should not exceed three lakh rupees. Candidates must submit documents like caste, income, and residence certificates during the admission process. Admission is granted based on an entrance test consisting of 100 objective questions covering various subjects.
