The Danapur Municipal Council in Patna is facing a serious administrative issue as no official meetings have been conducted for the past four months. This long gap in communication and decision-making has directly impacted the progress of the area. Ward councillors have raised strong objections against the Chief Councillor, accusing them of acting arbitrarily and ignoring the rules of the council.

What do the official rules say about meetings?
According to the standard operating procedures for the Nagar Parishad, it is mandatory to hold a council meeting every month. Additionally, special meetings are supposed to be organized every 60 days to address urgent matters. However, these guidelines are currently being ignored in Danapur.
Because of this failure to meet, several important committees that are needed for smooth functioning have not been formed yet. The councillors are upset because the lack of these committees makes it hard to govern effectively and solve public issues on time.
How is this affecting the common people?
The biggest impact of this delay is visible on the ground. New development projects planned for 40 wards have come to a complete halt. Without approval in the meetings, work related to roads, drains, and sanitation cannot proceed.
There is also a history of internal conflict within the council. In September 2025, a standing committee meeting witnessed heated arguments where a councillor reportedly tore copies of proposed schemes. With the council area recently expanded to include more villages and increase the number of wards to 45, the need for regular meetings has become even more critical for managing the growing population.
