A shocking incident has come to light from Patna City where a 70-year-old man was killed in broad daylight. The victim, identified as Mohammad Rais, was attacked with a sharp weapon near Vivekananda Colony Mor. This area falls under the jurisdiction of the Chowk Police Station. The incident took place around 10:30 AM on Thursday, causing panic in the locality.
What are the details of the incident?
Mohammad Rais worked as a tailor and specialized in darning clothes. On the morning of February 12, he was allegedly attacked by his own cousin, Mohammad Ayaz. Witnesses report that the attacker used a sharp cleaver, known locally as a chapad, to slit the victim’s throat.
The victim’s daughter, Shabnam Khatoon, has formally accused Ayaz of the crime. She stated that the suspect and the victim lived in the same house. She also revealed that there was a long-standing family dispute between them, and the suspect had previously threatened to kill her father.
How is the police investigating the case?
The Chowk Police Station team arrived at the scene shortly after the crime was reported. They cordoned off the area to protect the crime scene. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect scientific evidence from the spot. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Currently, the suspect Mohammad Ayaz is absconding. The police are actively searching for him and are analyzing CCTV footage from the Vivekananda Colony Mor area to track his movements. An FIR is being registered based on the statement given by the victim’s daughter.
