What are the details of the Kurji and Anandpuri Nala projects?
The project is being executed by BUIDCO under the Urban Development and Housing Department. The plan involves converting open drains into covered reinforced concrete structures. Once covered, a road will be built on the surface to ease traffic congestion. The Chief Minister has strictly instructed officials to complete the work by the scheduled deadline of July 22, 2027.
Here are the key financial and technical details of the projects:
| Project Name | Length | Estimated Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Kurji Nala (Rajiv Nagar) | 4.26 km | ₹180.99 Crore |
| Anandpuri Nala | 4.05 km | ₹91.27 Crore |
How will this construction help the common man?
This project will directly benefit over 4 lakh residents living in areas like Rajiv Nagar, Indrapuri, Mahesh Nagar, and Anandpuri. Currently, these areas face severe waterlogging during the monsoon season. The new high-capacity drainage system using RCC box culvert technology will ensure smooth water flow to the pumping station.
Additionally, the new two-lane road constructed over the drains will serve as a major relief for traffic. It will reduce the load on the busy Ashiana-Digha Road and Boring Road routes. The plan also includes installing LED streetlights and maintaining green zones to improve the look of the area.
