A major fraud case has come to light in Patna where an unidentified person procured four LPG cylinders by misusing the names of Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and the Patna Sadar SDM. The incident happened at a local Indane gas agency where the accused initially demanded fifteen cylinders. Due to suspicion, the agency operator gave only four cylinders which the individual took away. The district administration has now started a high-level investigation into the matter after the government offices denied any involvement.

How the fraud was executed at the gas agency
The fraudster approached the Indane gas agency operated by a person named Satyas and claimed to have direct orders from high-ranking government officials. He used the names of the Deputy CM and the local SDM to pressure the staff during the ongoing gas shortage. The administration later confirmed that no such order was placed by the Deputy CM office. Shailendra Ojha, personal secretary to the Deputy CM, stated that their office does not even have an SDO post and called the incident completely fabricated.
What action is the Patna administration taking
The Patna District Magistrate has taken serious note of the impersonation and ordered a strict probe. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the agency and nearby areas to identify the culprit. Authorities are in the process of registering an FIR against the unidentified person for illegal procurement of essential commodities. The administration has warned gas agencies not to issue cylinders based on phone calls or verbal claims without proper OTP verification and official documents.
Current LPG rules and shortage in Bihar
This incident occurred while Patna faces a severe LPG shortage, causing delays of up to five days for regular consumers standing in long queues. To stop black marketing and hoarding, the government has strictly enforced a mandatory 25-day gap between two cylinder bookings.
- The Patna DM has formed 28 special strike teams across the district.
- These teams will conduct regular raids on gas distributors and godowns.
- Strict action will be taken against agencies bypassing the official queue for VIP references.
