Sasaram police took major action on Friday, April 3, 2026, by raiding a marriage hall in the Maliyabag area. Based on secret information, a joint team of police and district officials searched Prakash Marriage Hall and the Amri Tola red-light area. The raid was conducted because of reports about an illegal sex racket being run at these locations. A large number of police officers were present on the spot to maintain order during the search operation.

How many people were caught in the Sasaram raid?

The police team detained 82 people from the marriage hall, including 40 men and 42 women. Some reports indicate that more than 100 people were picked up for questioning. SDPO Sindhu Shekhar Singh said that many of those caught were married. While the police were arriving, the manager of the hall, Santosh Kumar alias Sheru Singh, managed to run away. The authorities have now sealed the marriage hall and are filing an FIR against the owner and his staff.

Who led the operation and what was found?

The operation was led by SDM Prabhat Kumar, Sadar DSP 2 Kumar Vaibhav, and SDPO Sindhu Shekhar Singh. They were joined by several station heads and police force members. Along with the people detained, the police also seized many vehicles from the marriage hall area. Officials said that people were likely being brought from other states to work in this network.
