Purnia MP Pappu Yadav reached Shahpur on Thursday to meet the grieving family of the two brothers who were brutally murdered during a wedding reception. After meeting the victims’ father, Rajkishore Singh, the MP launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government and the Home Department. He alleged that the administration is failing to maintain law and order, stating that criminals are roaming freely while the victim’s family lives in fear.

What demands did Pappu Yadav raise for the family?

During his visit, Pappu Yadav expressed deep concern over the safety of the surviving family members. He stated that the family is currently receiving death threats from the accused side. He demanded that the state government provide immediate police protection to the family to prevent any further tragedy.

The MP also called for a Speedy Trial in this case. He emphasized that mere statements from the authorities will not work and concrete action is needed. According to him, the accused are moving around openly despite the police claims of raids. He urged the administration to ensure the culprits are sentenced quickly to send a strong message against such lawlessness.

What is the details of the Shahpur double murder?

The incident took place on the night of February 22 in Shahpur village under Gopalpur Police Station in Patna. Two biological brothers, Manish Kumar and Manjeet Kumar, were shot dead during a wedding ceremony. Reports indicate that assailants fired around 27 to 28 rounds at the venue. One brother was killed inside the wedding venue, while the other was dragged out and shot multiple times.

The police have identified a long-standing land dispute over 6 bighas of land as the main motive behind this attack. The dispute involves the victims’ father and his cousin. Although the Patna Police has formed an SIT and is conducting raids to catch the 12 named accused, the political pressure is mounting on the administration to show results.
