The Railway Ministry has approved a new stoppage for the Surat-Thawe Tapti Ganga Express at Dighwa Dubauli railway station in Bihar’s Gopalganj district. This decision will bring major relief to thousands of people traveling between Bihar and Gujarat. Passengers from the Baikunthpur region will no longer need to travel to Thawe or Chhapra to catch a direct train to Surat.

Details of the New Stoppage and Schedule

The Railway Ministry under Ashwini Vaishnaw officially approved the stoppage on March 10, 2026. The train will now halt at Dighwa Dubauli for two minutes. Railway officials have already started updating the timetable and ticket booking software to include the new station.

  • Train 19045 (Surat to Thawe): Runs 5 days a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).
  • Train 19046 (Thawe to Surat): Runs 5 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
  • Available Classes: Sleeper (SL), Third AC (3A), and Second AC (2A).

Public Impact and Local Demands

A large number of people from Gopalganj and Baikunthpur work in the textile industry and other businesses in Surat. Earlier, they had to face inconveniences and spend extra money to board the train from distant stations like Thawe. Local representative and Baikunthpur MLA Mithilesh Tiwari had written a letter to the Railway Minister on December 19, 2025, requesting this specific halt.

Now, with the direct boarding facility at Dighwa Dubauli, passengers will save both travel time and expenses. Tickets will be available based on standard railway fare rules for the distance traveled.
