Chhath Puja, a significant festival of faith, is being celebrated today with great enthusiasm. Today is the third day of Chhath Puja, and devotees offer ‘arghya’ to the setting sun. The first ‘arghya’ of Chhath Puja is offered on the sixth day after Diwali. During this time, milk is mixed in water and the last ray of the sun is worshipped with this mixture. According to the priests, the time to offer ‘arghya’ to Lord Bhaskar is until 05:22 PM on Sunday evening. In Bihar, including Patna, Chhath Ghats have been fully prepared for the festival. More than 100 Ghats have been set up in Patna alone for Chhath Puja, including Collectorate Ghat, Mahendra Ghat, Deegha Ghat, and Gay Ghat, where a large crowd gathers.

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival dedicated to the Sun God and is mainly observed by people from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. On the first day, devotees take a holy bath and observe a fast. The second day is known as Kharna, where devotees prepare a special meal and break their fast after offering it to the Sun God. On the third day, ‘arghya’ is offered to the setting sun, and on the fourth and final day, devotees offer ‘arghya’ to the rising sun. The festival is known for its rigorous rituals and strict fasting.

Chhath Puja holds immense cultural and religious importance for the people of Bihar. It is believed that by observing this puja, one can attain blessings for their family’s well-being and prosperity. The festival also promotes environmental consciousness as the rituals involve offering prayers to the sun, water bodies, and nature. The government and local authorities have made all necessary arrangements to ensure smooth celebrations of the festival, including the preparation of Chhath Ghats and ensuring proper security measures.

Overall, Chhath Puja is a time of devotion, faith, and gratitude towards the Sun God. It brings communities together and strengthens the cultural fabric of the region. The festival is a symbol of purity, discipline, and reverence towards nature, making it a unique and cherished celebration in India.
