The General Directorate of Civil Defence of Saudi Arabia has banned the use of liquefied gas, for cooking at camps of pilgrims and regional headquarters of government agencies in the holy places during this Haj season.
The ban will come into effect from today across the holy sites, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The preventive measure is meant to reduce the risk of fire in Haj camps, said Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Hammadi, official spokesman of the Civil Defence Haj mission, adding that the decision to ban the entry and use of gas to the holy places will be implemented in coordination with relevant security agencies.
