AIMIM to Contest Only Two Seats in Seemanchal

The political circles in Bihar are abuzz with news regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The AIMIM party, known for its strong presence in Seemanchal, will only contest on the Kishanganj and Araria seats this time. The party’s state president, Akhtarul Iman, announced that AIMIM will only participate in the Lok Sabha elections on two seats in Seemanchal, despite initially declaring its intention to contest on 13 seats in Bihar.

Decision to Contest Only One Seat in Seemanchal

Iman mentioned that due to time constraints for party chief Owaisi to campaign extensively in Bihar, AIMIM decided to limit its participation to just one seat in Kishanganj. The party is currently preparing to contest on the designated seats where candidates had been announced earlier. This decision provides a sense of relief to the Mahagathbandhan alliance, as the division of Muslim votes may now be less of a concern.

Impact of AIMIM’s Announcement

The announcement by AIMIM has relieved the Mahagathbandhan alliance, and accusations have been made by JDU against AIMIM for allegedly taking back candidates after accepting money. The alliance states that AIMIM’s decision indicates a possible collaboration with the Mahagathbandhan or involvement in unethical practices. The move has shifted the political dynamics in Seemanchal, where AIMIM has previously made significant gains in the 2020 assembly elections, causing a setback for the Mahagathbandhan.
