The district magistrate Naval Choudhary has written a letter to the department of the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to provide airline services and air taxi facilities in the district.

Bhagalpur district is rich in tourism, with ancient Vikramshila University being a significant attraction. Other important religious tourism sites include Jain temples, Baba Budhanath temple, Kanchangarh, Bateshwar place, Ajgaibinath temple, Kuppa Ghat, Khanqah Shahbazia, Hazrat Lal Mohammad Shahjungi Peer, Hazrat Peer Shah Kamal, Manganshah, etc. The district is a hub for education with two universities and medical and engineering colleges.
Education and Smart City Inclusion
The Bhagalpur city has been included in the Smart City project, making the airport essential for the development. The district also has a medical college and hospital, with plans for an IIT and central university in Vikramshila and Kahalganj. The airport’s runway was previously used by Kalinga Airlines in 1977, and starting air services will not only provide convenience but also boost the district’s development.
भागलपुर के लोगों के लिए अच्छी खबर है कि अब वहाँ फिर से विमान सेवा शुरू होने की उम्मीद है। जिलाधिकारी नवल चौधरी ने अपर मुख्य सचिव मंत्रिमंडल सचिवालय विभाग को पत्र लिखकर एयरलाइन सर्विस और एयर टैक्सी सुविधा उपलब्ध कराने की मांग की है। उन्होंने भागलपुर की पर्यटन और शिक्षा की महत्वपूर्णता पर भी ध्यान दिया और इससे जिले का विकास होने की उम्मीद जताई है। भागलपुर में शिक्षा का केन्द्र बन चुका है और एजुकेशन हब के रूप में भी महत्वपूर्ण है। इसके साथ ही पर्यटन के दृष्टिकोण से भी जिला अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है और इसे विकसित करने के लिए विमान सेवा की आवश्यकता है।
