Discontent Over Seat Sharing in Bihar

Central Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Pashupati Kumar Paras may announce his separation from the NDA today due to dissatisfaction over seat distribution in Bihar. It is possible that he may also resign from his position as a Central Minister. The seat sharing agreement in Bihar allocates 17 seats to BJP, 16 seats to JD(U), and 5 seats to LJP led by Chirag Paswan in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Exclusion of Paras from Negotiations

The National Lok Janshakti Party, led by Central Minister Pashupati Paras, was excluded from the seat sharing negotiations in Bihar, with no seats allocated to them. This marks a shift in the dynamics as BJP has been given more seats compared to JD(U), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for the first time in Bihar. The realignment comes after a few months of collaboration between JD(U) and BJP.

Distribution of Seats and Election Strategy

BJP candidates will contest from constituencies like West Champaran, East Champaran, Aurangabad, Madhubani, Araria, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Maharajganj, Saran, Ujiarpur, Begusarai, Navada, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Ara, Buxar, and Sasaram. JD(U) candidates will compete from areas like Valmikinagar, Sitamarhi, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Madhepura, Gopalganj, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Nalanda, Jehanabad, and Sheohar. LJP has been allocated seats in Vaishali, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria, and Jamui, while ‘HAM’ will contest from Gaya and RLSP from Karakat. BJP is confident of winning all seats in Bihar and will contest the elections with full force.
