Bihar Government Formation and Ongoing Delays
The government of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has been formed in Bihar, with Nitish Kumar taking oath as the Chief Minister. Along with him, ministers from the Janata Dal United (JDU) party, including Vijay Chaudhary, Vijendra Yadav, and Shravan Kumar, have also taken oath as ministers. However, there is still uncertainty regarding the allocation of ministerial positions for the remaining ministers, especially those from the JDU quota. Former ministers are eagerly awaiting their invitation to join the cabinet and are engaging in conversations with each other during their free time.
Reasons for Delay in Cabinet Expansion
Sources suggest that the delay in the expansion of the cabinet is due to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not finalizing their list of ministers. It is proving to be challenging for the BJP to determine who should be given ministerial positions. Additionally, after caste-based calculations, caste representation is also crucial, as the Lok Sabha elections are just a few months away, and the BJP wants to send a message to the voters through the cabinet expansion. It is possible that some ministers may be given different departments in the new cabinet.
Possible Date for Cabinet Expansion
Sources also indicate that the cabinet expansion could take place on February 12, once the new NDA government gains the confidence vote. The NDA believes that the cabinet expansion should occur after securing the vote of confidence, as there are several MLAs whose eyes are on the cabinet expansion, and any dissatisfaction among them could be dangerous for the NDA. Tejashwi Yadav has heightened the political temperature by saying that the game is not over yet. However, the NDA does not want to take any risks regarding caste calculations and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which is why the cabinet expansion is getting delayed.
