Champai Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, is facing a crucial day today as he will prove his majority in the state assembly through a floor test. Before this, the MLAs of the alliance government, who were detained in a resort in Hyderabad to prevent them from participating in the special session of the assembly, have returned to Ranchi. These MLAs include members of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress. These MLAs were sent to Telangana after the arrest of Hemant Soren and the swearing-in of Champai Soren as the CM. JMM had accused BJP of trying to change the MLAs through horse-trading.
The two-day special session of the Jharkhand assembly is also starting today. It is important to note that Champai Soren’s government will prove its majority in this session on Monday and Tuesday.
Earlier, around 40 MLAs of the JMM-led alliance had reached Hyderabad on February 2 to avoid any attempts of horse-trading by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the trust vote on Champai Soren’s new government. They left for Ranchi on Sunday and reached the state capital late at night. These MLAs have been staying at a resort here for the past three days.
Former CM Hemant Soren, who was arrested in a money laundering case, may also participate in the floor test scheduled for February 5 in the assembly. The court in Ranchi has granted permission for his participation. Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand High Court will also hear Hemant Soren’s petition today. The former CM has challenged the action taken by the investigation agency.
Champai Soren, a member of the Jharkhand assembly, is currently representing the Sarath constituency from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party. He was the cabinet minister for Transport, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, and Backward Class Welfare in the Hemant Soren government.
झारखंड की चंपई सोरेन सरकार के लिए आज विधानसभा में फ्लोर टेस्ट के जरिए बहुमत साबित करेंगे। इससे पहले हैदराबाद के रिजॉर्ट में रोके गए गठबंधन सरकार के विधायक रांची लौट आए हैं। चंपई सरकार की गिरफ्तारी और चंपई सोरेन द्वारा सीएम पद की शपथ लेने के बाद इन विधायकों को तेलंगाना भेज दिया गया था। दो दिवसीय विशेष सत्र भी शुरू हो रहा है और झारखंड विधानसभा में बहुमत साबित करेगी। हेमंत सोरेन द्वारा दो फरवरी को शपथ लेने के बाद उन्हें विधानसभा में बहुमत साबित करने के लिए 10 दिन का समय दिया गया था। चंपई सोरेन झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा से सरायकेला विधानसभा सीट से विधायक हैं।
