Sandalwood trees take around 35 to 40 years to fully mature, but they can be sold after 20 to 25 years. The price of white sandalwood can range from 35,000 to 1 lakh rupees per kilo, with the value increasing up to 35 lakhs per ton after 10 more years of growth.
Price Comparison of Red and White Sandalwood
Red sandalwood is more expensive than white sandalwood, with prices in the Indian market ranging from 18 to 25 thousand rupees per kilo, and in the international market from 38 to 45 thousand rupees per kilo. Red sandalwood farming is mainly done in the southern part of India, while white sandalwood farming is prevalent in North India.
