Indian Railway Development
Indian Railways is set to undergo major changes starting from July 2024. The development work for the New Delhi Railway Station to Pune route is scheduled to begin by the end of June. This will result in significant changes in train operations, affecting routes from North Bihar to New Delhi. Northern Railway has prepared a master plan for this reshuffle, which will be officially announced soon.
Impact on Train Operations
As part of the development plan, trains running from North Bihar to New Delhi will not be able to reach New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) during the 4-year construction period. Instead, these trains will be operated from Anand Vihar Terminal. Major trains like Vaishali Superfast, Swatantrata Senani Express, and Bihar Sampark Kranti Express passing through Muzaffarpur will also have their halt at Anand Vihar only.
World-Class Station Development
The goal of the development project is to make the New Delhi Railway Station world-class, similar to an airport. Plans include ensuring the success of NDLS trains at various stations in Delhi to avoid disruptions during construction. The redevelopment work is being carried out by RLDA, with tenders set to open in June and construction to commence shortly.
