Indian Railways Introduces Affordable Meals at 100 Stations

Indian Railways has initiated a plan to provide relief to passengers by offering affordable meals at 100 stations. With the installation of 150 stalls at these stations, passengers can now avail meals at prices as low as Rs. 20 and Rs. 50. The Railway Board has stated that the number of these stalls will be increased in the future. This initiative was first introduced last year during the summer season.

Collaboration with IRCTC for the Initiative

Shivaji Maruti Sutar, Director of Information and Publicity at the Railway Board, mentioned that Indian Railways has partnered with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation to implement this facility. While there are over seven thousand railway stations across the country, this initiative has been launched at only 100 stations initially. The Director also stated that a team has been formed to ensure the quality of the food served at these stalls.

Expansion of the Initiative to Various States

The initiative has been launched at several stations in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and others. The plan is to gradually increase the number of stations offering affordable meals to passengers. In addition to the mentioned states, stations in locations like Katgodam, Malda, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and others will also provide cheap meals to travelers.
