Chirag Paswan to File Nomination from Hajipur Seat

Chirag Paswan, the National President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), will file his nomination today as the NDA candidate from the Hajipur parliamentary seat. The nomination event will also see the presence of Deputy CM Sushil Modi and Vijay Kumar Sinha. An invitation has been extended to Pashupati Kumar Paras, Chirag Paswan’s uncle and the current MP from Hajipur, to participate in the nomination, adding an element of suspense to whether he will join or not.

Significance of the Hajipur Seat

Hajipur Lok Sabha seat is considered the political stronghold of the late Ram Vilas Paswan. His father, Ram Vilas Paswan, used to contest elections from this seat and had a winning record here. This is the first time Chirag Paswan is contesting from the Hajipur seat, having previously served as the MP from Jamui. In the 2019 elections, Pashupati Paras won on the LJP ticket from Hajipur, defeating his nephew Chirag Paswan.

Upcoming Jan Sabha and Political Dynamics

Following the demise of Ram Vilas Paswan, there was a split in the party and the family, with Pashupati Paras breaking ties with Chirag. However, in the changed political scenario, both factions are now part of the NDA. It will be interesting to see whether Pashupati Paras will join Chirag’s nomination from Hajipur or not. A massive Jan Sabha is also planned after Chirag Paswan’s nomination, with several top NDA leaders expected to attend, including Bihar BJP President and Deputy CM Sushil Modi.
