BJP Announces Candidates for 14 Lok Sabha Seats in Jharkhand
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand. However, discussions are still ongoing within the ‘India’ alliance. According to party sources, the Congress may announce its remaining candidates in the first week of April. In the alliance, only Congress has put up candidates on three seats and Bhakpa Male has put up a candidate on one seat.
Congress Prepares for Friendly Fight in Jharkhand
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have not yet announced their candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. RJD claims that they will have their own candidates in both the Chatra-Palamu seats. Congress, however, is refraining from making any solid statements on this. The party believes that they will field a candidate on one seat in Palamu-Chatra. The possibility of a friendly fight is also being considered so that they do not back down.
Congress Plans Protest Against Tax Terrorism
The Congress party is set to hold a protest on April 1 against the Income Tax Department’s actions of imposing a tax of Rs 1823 crore on Congress and withdrawing Rs 135 crore from their accounts. The party is also protesting against freezing of accounts. Instructions have been given to district presidents to organize protests, marches, and dharnas on the said date. Candidates announced for the Lok Sabha elections have also been instructed to participate in the protests in their respective constituencies.
Congress Accuses BJP of Economic Terrorism
Congress spokesperson in Jharkhand has accused the BJP of trying to economically attack opposition parties under the guise of tax terrorism. The BJP is targeting the Congress and is apprehensive about the growing confidence among India alliance parties and the public. The Congress is facing actions from the Income Tax Department as a result. The party is conducting nationwide protests against these actions and will continue to do so in Jharkhand as well.
