After his remarks, people are now demanding an apology from him. The incident took place during a meeting organized by the peace committee in Jhajha police station premises in Jamui district, where Saraswati Puja was being discussed. It was during this meeting that BDO Ravi Kumar made a controversial statement about the goddess.
Ravi Kumar stated that people have started seeing Goddess Saraswati as their sister-in-law instead of a mother figure. He further added that people have turned Saraswati into a sister-in-law. As soon as the video of his statement surfaced, criticism began pouring in. People argued that BDO should apologize to the public for his mistake, as he has hurt their sentiments.
When asked about the incident, BDO Ravi Kumar clarified that his intentions were not as portrayed. He mentioned that he is a Hindu and respects all deities equally. He just wanted to convey that in today’s society, people engage in inappropriate activities under the name of Saraswati Puja. He provided this example to make people understand. The District Magistrate of Jamui, Rakesh Kumar, stated that the statement made in the video is not accurate. He has requested clarification from BDO and warned of further action if the response is not satisfactory.
