High Temperatures Across India

Many Indian states experienced maximum temperatures ranging from 42-45 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with the heat wave intensity decreasing in parts of eastern and southern peninsular India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted relief from the scorching heat in several states from May 5 to May 9.

Temperature Soaring Above 40 Degrees Celsius

On Saturday, maximum temperatures were recorded between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in regions such as Telangana, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema, and Interior Odisha. Other areas affected include North Interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, and East Uttar Pradesh.

IMD Rain Forecast

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand from May 5 to 9. Similarly, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall during this period.

Health Concerns and Yellow Alert in Kerala

Hospitals are reporting an increase in heat-related cases, and IMD has issued a yellow alert for 12 out of 14 districts in Kerala due to high temperature and humidity until May 6. Cities like Palakkad are likely to experience temperatures around 39 degrees Celsius, while other districts are facing temperatures of around 37-38 degrees Celsius.
