Scorching Heat and Sudden Relief
For the past few days, the intense heat had made life difficult for the residents of Darbhanga, with scorching winds making it unbearable to step out of their homes. However, on Thursday morning, a pleasant change was seen in the weather, bringing joy to the people. The sky was clear until 8:00 am, but gradually clouds started to cover the sky, and by 9:00 am, it was completely overcast. This was followed by light drizzles at 9:20 am, leading to heavy rainfall by 9:30 am.
Impact on Agriculture
While the heavy rain provided relief from the heat, some farmers suffered losses due to the strong winds damaging their fruit-bearing crops. Agricultural coordinator Arun Kumar mentioned that the rain benefitted farmers with crops like moong and dhaincha, but those with fruit-bearing crops faced losses. The anticipation of this weather and rainfall had been high among the people of Darbhanga for several days, especially with the scorching heat and low water levels in the district.

The weather department had forecasted the rainfall on Wednesday, alleviating the water crisis that was becoming severe due to the scorching heat. Experts from various agricultural and meteorological institutions had shared their insights on the weather conditions and its impact on rural agriculture. The sudden change in weather brought relief to the residents and farmers alike, balancing out the challenging conditions faced due to the intense heat and water scarcity.
