Bihar: Bhagalpur
On NH-80 near Amaapur in Gogha, Bhagalpur, a horrific accident occurred on Monday night. A high-speed Scorpio carrying wedding guests overturned, resulting in the death of six passengers. Three others were seriously injured. The incident took place around 11:30 pm. All injured individuals have been taken to Mayaganj Hospital, Bhagalpur. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
Six Killed on the Spot
After receiving information about the incident, police from Gogha Thana arrived at the scene and started clearing the debris with the help of agencies constructing NH-80. Among the people removed from the debris, three were injured, while the remaining six passengers had already died. A crowd of onlookers gathered at the scene. According to the injured, the wedding party was traveling from Govadda in Khadimapur, Mungar, to Khidampur in Pirpainti.
Two Children Among the Deceased
Three Scorpios were heading from Bhagalpur to Kahalgaon on NH-80. A loaded truck was coming from the opposite direction towards Kahalgaon. During this time, the truck lost control and collided with the Scorpio, causing it to overturn. The truck’s debris filled the Scorpio, leading to the death of the passengers. Two children were also among the deceased. Two other Scorpios following the accident-prone Scorpio managed to escape the truck. Otherwise, more casualties could have occurred.
Trapped in the Debris for an Hour
In the wedding car accident in Gogha, 60-year-old Kailash Das, along with other injured individuals, was taken to Mayaganj Hospital around 1:30 am on Monday night. Their condition is reported to be serious. Kailash, one of the injured, mentioned that they were trapped in the debris for about an hour. Breathing was difficult, and they lost consciousness. They were with other passengers in the car, but after some time, they realized that no one was rescuing them. It was a suffocating experience. The condition of the fellow passengers was unknown.
