The Delhi High Court dismissed the appeal of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren on Tuesday. Soren had filed a petition against a single judge’s order, which had refused to interfere with the functioning of the Lokpal.

Justice Rekha Palli and Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar’s division bench stated that they found no reason to interfere with the applicable order. The appellant had hastily filed a writ petition, so the appeal was dismissed. The bench mentioned that they did not see any weakness in the Lokpal’s perspective.

It is noteworthy that on August 5, 2020, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had accused Soren of misusing government funds for personal and political gains under the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, 2013. A petition was filed against him demanding a CBI investigation.

On September 15, 2020, the Lokpal had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to initiate a preliminary inquiry against Shibu Soren. In response, Soren filed a petition seeking court intervention against the Lokpal’s actions.
