Bihar’s approximately four lakh appointed teachers are demanding the status of state employees without having to sit for a competency exam. Under the banner of Bihar Shikshak Ekta Manch, a proposed massive teacher protest called Virat Shikshak Satyagraha has been announced in Patna. Thousands of teachers have started arriving in Patna from other districts, while many have already reached the city overnight.
The gathering of teachers has begun at the protest site in Gardanibagh since Tuesday morning. However, the teachers who were supposed to reach Patna in the morning have received information about being stopped on the Patna Bypass in the name of checking. The Patna police have halted them. The protesting appointed teachers allege that preparations are underway to crush our protest. We have been stopped on the bypass. However, our protest will not stop until our demands are met. The Education Department is using all means to stop our protest, but we will not be deterred until our demands are fulfilled.
This action is against the conduct of teachers. Prior to this, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, KK Pathak, had ordered strict action against the teachers participating in the Mashal Juloos (torchlight procession). The Education Department had issued instructions to all District Magistrates in Bihar, stating that appointed teachers were protesting against the competency exam and organizing torchlight processions at the district level. This action is against the conduct of teachers, so they should be identified and strict action should be taken against them. Furthermore, all appointed teachers have been instructed not to grant any kind of leave on February 13th.
बिहार के करीब चार लाख नियोजित शिक्षक राज्यकर्मी का दर्जा देने की मांग पर अड़े हैं। इस मांग को लेकर बिहार शिक्षक एकता मंच ने पटना में विराट शिक्षक सत्याग्रह आंदोलन का आह्वान किया है। शिक्षकों की भीड़ धरना स्थल पर जुटनी शुरू हो गई है और शिक्षकों को पटना बाइपास पर रोका जा रहा है। शिक्षा विभाग ने शिक्षकों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की आदेश दिया है और 13 फरवरी को नियोजित शिक्षकों को अवकाश नहीं देने का निर्देश दिया गया है।
