In Bihar, the problem of children falling ill after taking filaria medication is not stopping. On Tuesday, nearly 70 children fell ill after taking filaria medication in various schools in Muzaffarpur. Among them, about 20 children’s condition deteriorated after taking filaria medication in Jhikati High School in Khudhani block. As soon as this information was received, chaos erupted in the school. A team of doctors from PHC reached the school with the police and all unconscious children were taken to PHC from the ambulance and police vehicles. PHC in-charge Dr. Rita Renu Chaudhary started treatment with the help of Principal Tappu Gupta and other doctors. All the children had symptoms like vomiting and dizziness. Outside the hospital, there was a crowd of fifth-grade students. Sick children included about a dozen children, including Nibha Kumari, Archana Kumari, Avantika Kumari, Vansh Raj, Arnav Kumar, Anshika Raj, Ambita Kumari, Anjali Kumari, Khushbu Kumari. After treatment, when everyone’s physical condition became normal, they were sent home. The acting medical officer Dr. Rita Renu Chaudhary said that there is no need to panic in such cases. The children have been sent home after treatment. All were fifth-grade students. Beo Mintu Kumari said that all the children have returned home healthy. According to the letter received from the Health Department, symptoms like vomiting and dizziness are common after taking filaria medication. From school to hospital, chaos was created as per government instructions. Filaria medication was to be given after meals. ANM and Asha were deployed to administer the medicine. After lunch, the medicine was given to the children. About five to ten minutes later, about a dozen children began complaining of vomiting and dizziness. Other children were scared to see this. The children whose condition did not deteriorate even after taking the medicine also reached the hospital with their parents for treatment. This created chaos from school to hospital. The children who did not have any complaints were also examined by doctors and sent home after explaining. Meanwhile, the parents created a ruckus in the school. Khudhani in-charge Ravi Prakash explained to everyone and calmed them down. After the children’s condition deteriorated, the principal’s mobile was not reachable. In Bhagalpur, after taking filaria medication, the condition of children from two schools deteriorated, sent to hospital. After giving filariasis eradication medicine by PHC on Monday, four children also fell ill in Utkramit Middle School, Bangri. After taking the medicine, the children started feeling dizzy and started vomiting. However, they were immediately given medicine by the medical team, which made them better in a while. PHC in-charge Dr. Naushad Ahmad said that when the children felt dizzy and vomited, they were given medicine. Now all the children are healthy. In Bhagalpur, children’s condition deteriorated after taking filaria medication in a school, 23 children were sent to the hospital.
