ED action in Jharkhand: Congress leader’s private secretary arrested
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a big action in Jharkhand by arresting Congress leader Alamgir Alam’s private secretary Sanjeev Lal. Sanjeev Lal was arrested late on Monday night after the seizure of 35 crore rupees in cash. The ED conducted raids at various locations and seized a large amount of cash after finding 31.20 crore rupees at the residence of Jahangir Alam, a private secretary.
‘Mountain of notes’ found at the servant’s house also led to arrest
In the Jharkhand cash scandal, the ED also arrested a servant whose house was found to have a mountain of notes. Both the private secretary and the servant were initially taken into custody after the cash seizure and then arrested after prolonged interrogation. The ED is expected to summon Minister Alamgir Alam in connection with this case soon.
Counting machines overheated during the raid
The ED started the raids early on Monday morning and continued throughout the day, seizing 35.23 crore rupees in total. Out of this, 31.20 crore rupees were found at the servant’s house, and an additional 10 lakh rupees at the private secretary’s residence. Eight counting machines were imported to count the notes, and some machines overheated due to continuous operation. Besides cash, the ED also found jewelry during the raids.
Shocking documents found during the raids
During the raids, ED’s Additional Director Kapil Raj personally visited Jahangir Alam’s flat for investigation. Documents related to illegal money collection were found during the search. The ED discovered papers related to transfer and postings of several department officials, indicating corruption. The ED also found recommendations for keeping Gadda’s PDO Maheshwari Prasad Yadav in his current position and creating a new PDO position for Saraiyahat, among other irregularities.
